A CT Traffic Signal Technician Certificate Program Level I Required Workshop

Course Description:

This workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to traffic signal maintenance, covering preventative, reactive, and response-based approaches. Participants will explore the key elements of an effective preventative maintenance program, learn how to identify and replace common components, and understand the importance of thorough maintenance inspection and documentation. The class will also examine how strong preventative maintenance strategies can help reduce liability risks.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish between proactive and reactive maintenance and explain the value of preventative maintenance.
  • Recognize the importance of maintaining an inventory of materials and supplies.
  • Conduct a preventative maintenance inspection.
  • Identify and replace common traffic signal components.
  • Diagnose and address common traffic signal component failures.

  • Traffic Signal Technicians
  • Those interested in becoming traffic signal technicians.
  • Transportation professionals interested in gaining a better understanding of how traffic signals are maintained.
