A CT Transportation Leadership Program Elective Workshop

Course Description:

Projects are part of our work and personal lives. Regardless of project size or focus, there are fundamental best practices and principles that can help guide us to success. This course is designed to introduce many of these best practices using a municipal public works project as a foundation. Whether you are new or experienced, you will walk away from this class with new outlooks and ideas about how to be a better project manager or team member.

At the completion of this course, you will understand common terms used in project management, learn the use of tools and techniques to manage projects, and have a better understanding of the principles of planning, controlling and evaluating projects.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this class, participants will be able to:

  • Identify project management terminology

  • Describe the differences and types of project phases

  • Identify the stakeholders and analyze their influence on the project

  • Analyze a project’s critical path

  • Discuss how to manage conflicts that rise between stakeholders

This workshop is open to members of the Transportation Leadership Program - current cohorts and alumni are welcome.
