A CT Traffic Signal Technician Certificate Program Level I Required Workshop

Course Description:

This workshop aims to provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of a traffic signal technician. It will cover how different components, both inside and outside the controller cabinet, work together at a signalized intersection. The session will include traffic signal terminology and a hands-on field activity to give you practical experience with the concepts taught in the classroom.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the roles and responsibilities of a traffic signal technician.
  • Learn and use common traffic signal terms, showing an understanding of key concepts related to traffic signal systems.
  • Identify the different traffic signal components and devices both inside and outside the cabinet.
  • Gain an understanding of how the components and devices within the controller cabinet interact at a signalized intersection.

  • Traffic Signal Technicians
  • Those interested in becoming Traffic Signal Technicians.
  • Transportation professionals interested in gaining a better understanding of how traffic signals operate.
