A Connecticut Safety Academy Workshop

Class Description:

The nighttime fatality rate on the nation’s roadways is three times higher than the daytime rate, and 76 percent of pedestrian fatalities occur at night. Improving nighttime visibility can greatly impact pedestrian nighttime safety. This workshop will provide an understanding of how roadway lighting can improve safety, the basics of design elements, and an understanding of maintenance best practices.

Learning Objectives:

This workshop will provide information on: 

• Nighttime safety challenges
• How roadway lighting improves nighttime safety
• The basics of roadway lighting design elements
• Maintenance of roadway lighting

Who Should Attend:

• Public Works Directors
• Highway Foremen
• Crew Leaders
• Transportation professionals responsible for maintaining roadways

• Cost: Free. No registration fee is charged for this class. This training opportunity is offered by the Training & Technical Assistance Center's Connecticut Safety Academy.
• If a participant fails to attend the workshop and does not inform our team by phone or email by the morning of the training, a $25.00 no-show fee will be charged. Alternatively, you may send a replacement from your agency.
• Lunch will be provided. 
• Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
• Approximately one week prior to the class, you will receive an email confirmation of your attendance, along with the address of the workshop location.
