A CT Road Master Program Required Workshop

Course Description:

This dynamic workshop is designed to provide an overview of the complexity of installing and maintaining drainage systems. It will provide information on how to manage and prevent drainage issues in order to keep your roads in the best possible condition.

Learning Objectives:

In this workshop participants will learn:

  • How to analyze the extent of drainage problems.
  • Properties and effects of soil and sub-surface water.
  • Appropriate use of subsurface drainage.
  • Purpose of cross-section elements and maintenance techniques.
  • How to maintain, inspect and install culverts.
  • Purpose and maintenance of ditches.
  • Types of erosion and ways to reduce it.

Who Should Attend:

This program is designed for any state or local personnel who are involved in street and utility construction and maintenance on local roads. 

Road Foremen, Crew Leaders, Highway Superintendents and Directors of Public Works are encouraged to attend. 

Instructor:

David P. Orr, P.E. is the Senior Engineer and Director of the Cornell Local Roads Program. Formerly the Deputy Highway Superintendent for Yates County, NY. David has over 30 years of road-related experience and has been teaching for the CT T2 Center for more than 20 years.

    - $100 - State and Municipal participants
    - $200 - Private-sector participants
  • Cancellation/Refund Policy: The registration fee is refundable if notice of cancellation is received 48 hours prior to the start of the program. Registrants who are unable to attend and do not cancel in advance are subject to the registration fee. Substitutions may be made at anytime. Please notify us of changes.
