A Connecticut Safety Academy Workshop

*Participants will receive 4 credit hours toward their CT Safety Champion Designation.

Class Description:

In this roundtable discussion, representatives from CT municipal and state agencies, will share their experiences and best practices on developing a UAS/drone program and identify ways to use drones and keep your teams and your roadways safe and to save time. Representatives on the panel will include Public Works, Fire, CTDOT and a Public Utility. There will also be a "show and tell" session and an opportunity to fly a drone with our licensed pilots. Participants who have a drone are encouraged to bring it to the roundtable.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this class, participants will:

  • Understand what is needed for a successful UAS/drone program
  • Identify resources available to you
  • Understand ways you can use a UAS/drone program to promote safety in your agency and on your roadways

Who Should Attend:

  • Public Works Directors
  • Town Engineers
  • Technical Staff
  • Any municipal or state professionals that interested incorporating drones in their operations

Class Notes:

Participants who have a drone are encouraged to bring it. There will be a field activity, please wear comfortable attire.

  • Cost: Free. No registration fee is charged for this class. This training opportunity is offered by the Training & Technical Assistance Center's Connecticut Safety Academy.
  • If a participant fails to attend the workshop and does not inform our team by phone or email by the morning of the training, a $25.00 no-show fee will be charged. Alternatively, you may send a replacement from your agency.
  • Morning refreshments will be provided. 
  • Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Approximately one week prior to the class, you will receive an email confirmation of your attendance, along with the address of the workshop location.
