A Connecticut Safety Academy VIRTUAL Workshop 

Class Description:

The CT T2 Center is pleased to announce the 3rd and final session of our virtual Road Safety Champion series for 2024. This session will introduce the importance of developing a positive safety culture to significantly improve road safety. Participants will gain a better understanding of the elements that shape traffic safety culture; how those factors interact to affect behaviors related to traffic safety; strategies that can be implemented to improve traffic safety culture among various groups; and approaches on how they can leverage their role (and the role of others) to grow a positive safety culture.

*Participants will receive 2 hours credit toward their CT Safety Champion Designation

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Describe traffic safety as a public health concern
  • Recognize that behavior is influenced by beliefs
  • Define how we develop beliefs
  • Define traffic safety culture
  • Identify strategies that grow traffic safety culture

  • Elected Officials
  • Public Works Directors
  • Town Engineers
  • Law Enforcement
  • Any municipal or state professionals that are interested in roadway safety

Instructors:

Jason Hughes is the Safety Technical Associate at the University of Connecticut’s Training and Technical Assistance Center.

 Amy Watkins is the Program Specialist for Watch for Me CT and the Director of Safe Kids Connecticut at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
