A Connecticut Safety Academy VIRTUAL Workshop 

Class Description:

The CT T2 Center is pleased to announce the 2nd session of our virtual Road Safety Champion series for 2024. This session will give an overview of human factors principles, including how road users interact with their vehicle, the roadway, and other road users. We will also discuss why practitioners should consider road users capabilities and limitations in their policies and practices. Armed with this knowledge, construction and maintenance personnel, planners, engineers, public health professionals, and law enforcement can work together to target appropriate countermeasures to help reduce injury crashes.

*Participants will receive 2 hours credit toward their CT Safety Champion Designation

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Explain the road user role as an element of a system
  • Identify road user capabilities and limitations
  • Describe how current geometric design and traffic operation practices address human factors

  • Town Engineers
  • Law Enforcement
  • Any municipal or state professionals that are interested in roadway safety

Instructors:

Jason Hughes is the Safety Technical Associate at the University of Connecticut’s Training and Technical Assistance Center.

Eric Lemke is a Crash Data Liaison at the University of Connecticut's Transportation Safety Research Center.
