A CT Local Traffic Authority Program Required Workshop

 

Course Description:

On June 26, 2023, Governor Ned Lamont signed Senate Bill 904. Section 5 of this bill requires Local Traffic Authorities (LTAs), or their designee, to attend a training program annually through the University of Connecticut’s T2 Center, to provide them with critical knowledge and skills to better serve in this important role. This course will satisfy this annual training requirement.

This is a multiple-day course that includes a prerequisite, an on-demand module about the Powers and Responsibilities of the LTA. To receive credit, participants must attend the entire course and complete the prerequisite through our online system.

 

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the powers and responsibilities of local traffic authorities.
  • Understand the regulations associated with the installation of official traffic control devices and be able to apply them.
  • Identify and access technical resources that support an LTA’s primary areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the applicable provisions of the general statutes and any regulations adopted by the Office of the State Traffic Administration.

Who Should Attend:

  • Local Traffic Authorities and their designees that have NOT taken this class before
  • Municipal personnel that support Local Traffic Authorities

Instructors:

Experts representing OSTA, CTDOT, CTSRC, Watch for Me CT, and the T2 Center’s Safety Circuit Rider program will provide information on the responsibilities of the LTA and the resources that are available to them to accomplish these tasks.

  • If a participant fails to attend the workshop and does not inform our team by phone or email by the morning of the training, a $25.00 no-show fee will be charged. Alternatively, you may send a replacement from your agency.
  • Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
