A Connecticut Safety Academy Workshop and A Connecticut Local Traffic Authority ELECTIVE Workshop

*Participants will receive 6 credit hours toward their CT Safety Champion Designation along with LTA elective credit.

Class Description:

Participants will be introduced to the idea of incorporating Complete Streets elements into their planning and designing through the Safe System Approach. Features, policies, and strategies that guide project development and result in measurable improvements will be covered

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion oft this course participants will be able to: 

  • Identify the basic rationale for developing Complete Streets
  • Explain how a Complete Streets policy is developed
  • Incorporate Complete Streets principals into the planning phase of project development
  • Outline an effective Complete Streets implementation process

Instructor:

Brooke Struve, P.E., is a Safety and Design Engineer for the FHWA Resource Center. She provides technical assistance and training nationwide on design flexibility, performance-based design decision-making, and designing for the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists.

  • Cost: Free. No registration fee is charged for this class. This training opportunity is offered by the Training & Technical Assistance Center's Connecticut Safety Academy.
  • If a participant fails to attend the workshop and does not inform our team by phone or email by the morning of the training, a $25.00 no-show fee will be charged. Alternatively, you may send a replacement from your agency.
  • Lunch will be provided. 
  • Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Approximately one week prior to the class, you will receive an email confirmation of your attendance, along with the address of the workshop location.
