A CT Road Master Program Elective Workshop

Course Description:

This course focuses on providing information on the fundamental concepts of surveying and is designed for those with limited or no surveying experience. It pays special attention to the details of horizontal and vertical measures with several hands-on exercises demonstrating elevation transfers, slope calculations and pipe laying.

Topics Covered:

  • Using a Hand Level.
  • Using a Carpenter’s Level and Tape Measure.
  • Using a Laser Level, Automatic Level, Total Station and GPS.
  • Measuring horizontal and vertical distances.
  • How to determine crown on a road, check a grade, take elevations and determine slope.

  • Road Foremen
  • Construction Supervisors

Instructor:

Rachel Dearborn, is a professional land surveyor and owner of Landmark Surveys. Rachel has been surveying since 1999 and currently teaches a surveying class at Central CT Sate University. Ms. Dearborn also taught an undergraduate surveying course at the University of Connecticut for several years.

  • Cancellation/Refund Policy: The registration fee is refundable if notice of cancellation is received 48 hours prior to the start of the program. Registrants who are unable to attend and do not cancel in advance are subject to the registration fee. Substitutions may be made at anytime. Please notify us of changes.
