A CT Traffic Signal Technician Certificate Program Level III Required Workshop

Course Description:

This course is designed to provide an understanding of advanced traffic signal programming. Participants will program a traffic signal controller and review the necessary steps to interfacing. The class will focus on advanced signal control features, such as Flashing Yellow arrows, Peer-to-Peer and Boolean Logic programming, Detection enhancements, Railroad Preemption diagnostics, Interfacing with an ATMS system, and Controller software automated upgrades. 

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, participants will:

  • Review historical overview of NEMA vs 170/179/2070 and ATC type Controllers.
  • Understand TS1, TS2, 33x and ATC Signal control cabinets.
  • Program and run a Controller's basic functions using a Signal Plan.
  • Understand cabinet considerations when running in an intersection and verifying its operation.
  • Understand Malfunction Management Unit (MMU) and Conflict Monitor Unit (CMU) interface.
  • Demonstrate enhanced signal control features.
