A CT Road Scholar Required Workshop

Course Description:

This program is designed to provide street and highway managers, supervisors and employees with a better understanding of risk management and how risk management practices can be adopted and effectively used by any community.

Public works examples and case studies will be used throughout the course and participants will walk away with tips on how to mitigate risk in their departments.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand what risk is and why it is important to manage and control risk.
  • Describe the components of an effective risk management program.
  • Identify areas of liability for public works departments.
  • Employ strategies for effectively managing risk.

Instructors:

Joey Barbera, A.R.M. is the Manager of Risk Management Services at CIRMA and has over 17 years of experience in municipal risk management.

Ian Havens, A.R.M. is the Risk Management Team Leader at CIRMA and has a background in actuarial science and public entity risk management.

  • Cancellation/Refund Policy: The registration fee is refundable if notice of cancellation is received 48 hours prior to the start of the program. Registrants who are unable to attend and do not cancel in advance are subject to the registration fee. Substitutions may be made at anytime. Please notify us of changes.
