Risk & Resiliency Assessments (RRA) and Emergency Response Plans (ERP) for Water Systems

A New England Chapter Connects Series — Presented by the NEAPWA's Education Committee

When: Thursday, April 22, 2021, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. via Zoom Hosted by T2 Center at UCONN

The 2018 America’s Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) imposes new security requirements for drinking water systems serving more than 3,300 people.  The AWIA requires water suppliers to prepare a Risk and Resilience Assessment (RRA), followed by an Emergency Response Plan. (ERP), to address physical, chemical, financial, and cyber risks. For systems serving populations between 3,300 and 50,000, the RRA and ERP are due by June 30, 2021 and December 31, 2021, respectively.

These requirements are more than “another federal form” to fill in. In fact, the RRA requires an assessment of natural and malevolent hazards, physical barriers, storage and distribution facilities and pipelines, monitoring practices, financial practices (i.e. billing), chemicals handling and storage, O&M practices, computer and SCADA system security. That's quite a list!

Please join Environmental Partners (EP) Senior Principal Paul Millett, P.E. and Vincent Roy, Director of Operations for the Sudbury Water District, to learn more about how you can meet these requirements, and how the RRA’s and ERP’s actually enhance your system and public safety.
