APWA - New England Chapter Connects: Capital Improvement Projects

Event Date: 2/25/2021

Event Overview

Selling Your Capital Improvement Projects to Elected Officials and the Public

A New England Chapter Connects Series — Presented by the NEAPWA's Education Committee

Please join us for this presentation that will focus on the challenges of “selling” your capital projects to local decision makers and the public. Our speakers will showcase various strategies and techniques to present compelling arguments that result in consensus building for approval.  Examples will be given that show the negative impacts from postponement or cancellation of capital projects and the benefits of funding a capital project in a down economy.  The presentation will show how historic trends and current information can be used to realize project cost savings over the long term. Our panelists will discuss how to leverage both borrowing opportunities and a competitive bid environment to invest in critical infrastructure during a downturn.  A key component of this presentation will be recent construction cost data for both horizontal and vertical public works projects within the New England states.

When: Thursday, February 25, 2021, 11am-12:00pm via Zoom Hosted by T2 Center at UCONN
