HMA Field Sampling Course: Loose Mix and Density Cores

Course Description:

This certification course provides the necessary training for HMA sampling and splitting methods that are required by CTDOT in accordance with the following ASTM & AASHTO Designations:

ASTM D 3665: Standard Practice for Random Sampling of Construction Materials

AASHTO R 97: Standard Practice for Sampling Asphalt Mixtures

AASHTO R 47: Standard Practice for Reducing Samples of Asphalt Mixtures to Testing Size

AASHTO R 67: Standard Practice for Sampling Asphalt Mixtures After Compaction (Obtaining Cores)

This course is hosted and instructed by the Connecticut Advanced Pavement Laboratory at UCONN.

Who Should Attend?

This certification is required for, and will provide instruction/guidance to Contractor and CTDOT field staff who are responsible for collecting and handling HMA samples and/or cores that will be used for acceptance testing on CTDOT paving projects.
