A CT Safety Academy Program Training

Course Description:

This training will show local transportation agencies how safety can be incorporated into practice through data driven safety planning, proven safety countermeasures and low cost safety improvements. We will be covering two types of safety projects: low cost systemic projects and site specific or "black spot" locations. At the completion of this class, participants will have the tools necessary to aide them in the development of safety projects.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this class, participants will be able to:

  • Identify safety analysis tools.
  • Differentiate between systemic and reactive safety projects.
  • Define nominal and substantive safety.
  • Compute a Benefit Cost Ratio.

Who Should Attend:

This class is intended for individuals involved in roadway safety projects, such as planning, design and traffic engineering.
