This course focuses on how today's chainsaw technology can be combined with proper cutting and handling techniques to yield safe and precise results in every day situations as well as in the extraordinary conditions seen after a storm. Participants will gain a better understanding of trees and/or parts of trees that are under compression or tension and how to use the chainsaw's design and reaction forces to control the release of this stored energy.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
Explain a systematic method of planning a felling operation;
Identify hazards and obstacles associated with working around trees;
Identify safety features of a chainsaw;
Describe safe chainsaw handling practices.
Public Works Directors, Highway Superintendents, Foremen and Crew Leaders are encouraged to attend.
