Course Description:

Critical thinking goes beyond the memorization of facts and accumulation of information. It involves using the information that is available in a systematic way to make effective decisions and solve complex problems. Successful organizations rely on the critical thinking abilities of staff at all levels to adapt to the changing environment and overcome challenges on the path to its goals.In this workshop, participants will learn how to evaluate information, avoid common mistakes in reasoning, and think more creatively in order to increase effectiveness at the individual, team, and organizational levels.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this class, participants will be able to:

  • ?Discuss the link between critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Separate idea generation from evaluation and avoid patterned thinking.
  • Discuss how solid processes, interpersonal skills, and group dynamics support effective problem solving.
  • Identify ways to support and integrate critical thinking into departmental projects and activities.
