Paul Ha, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Research Associate


Dr. Ha joined the Connecticut Transportation Safety Research Center (CTSRC) at the Connecticut Transportation Institute (CTI) as a postdoctoral research associate in 2023. He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 2023. His dissertation, titled Enhancing traffic efficiency of mixed traffic using control-based and learning-based connected and autonomous systems, focuses on improving traffic operations by leveraging machine learning and optimization techniques with a specific perspective on interactions between systems. Prior to joining CTSRC, Dr. Ha has worked with the Center for Connected and Autonomous Transportation (CCAT) on enhancing the deployability of self-driving vehicle systems and addressing their safety concerns and has also worked with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) on various highway asset management projects. He has authored and co-authored several papers at reputable journals including Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Transportmetrica A: Transport Science, and Sustainable Cities and Society and serves as a reviewer for these journals.
