GIS Developer and Data Scientist
Moataz Kilany is a GIS Developer and Data Scientist. He earned a Master's degree in Computer Science from Minia University, Egypt, in 2018, and a Ph.D. degree in Geography from the University of Connecticut in 2023. His research focuses on remote sensing of urban land cover and machine learning classifier optimization. Moataz has published extensively on machine learning optimization using Swarm Algorithms. Since 2019, he has been working with the Connecticut Transportation Safety Research Center (CTSRC), where he has developed several GIS applications aimed at building an integrated GIS roadway asset data management system for the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT). His current research and development work at CTSRC focuses on the application of advanced remote sensing and machine learning algorithms for the automated mapping of roadway features such as sidewalks and pavement markings.
