Marisa Auguste

Research Associate

Marisa Auguste is a Research Associate for the Connecticut Transportation Safety Research Center (CTSRC). Conducting social science research in transportation, her primary focus is on human behavior and equity. A large part of her work involves analyzing state-wide data to identify vulnerable populations and patterns of behavior that are positively correlated with increased crash risk. Her research projects have focused on COVID-19's impact on crashes and transportation, mobility barriers for teens, cannabis use and driving habits, and pedestrian safety education. Utilizing a background in sociology, psychology and criminal justice, Ms. Auguste relies on theories and behavior modification practices based in these disciplines. She is also the owner and author of the popular traffic psychology blog, Drivers Behaving Badly, which has garnered readers in over 73 countries. In addition to her research interests, Ms. Auguste enjoys practicing yoga, watching true crime documentaries, reading, and spending time with her family in her free time.

Current research projects: COVID-19's impact on driver behavior, cannabis use and driving, the linkage of crash, toxicology, publich health, and citation data.
